MS Excel F2 Shortcut - a new world of productivity

February9

I just found a new shortcut for Microsoft Excel!

Pressing F2 on your keyboard will open up the cell for editing, without having to click on it.  This means that when you’re making changes in a spreadsheet, you don’t have to use your mouse to edit in-cell.

Great time saver!

The whole list can be found on Microsoft’s site here in case you’re looking for more.  This can be a bit cumbersome though!

P.S. Make sure your function keys are turned on! I had to search around for the button my keyboard that let me use them (it was called F-Lock)

Does anyone else have any good keyboard shortcuts for making drone office work easier?

Well the F2 key is used through out windows to edit fields. For instance within Windows Explorer when on a file or folder press F2 to edit the file name.

Other useful unknown excel shortcuts include using the little square that is just to the bottom right of the selected cell (in the border). By left clicking on this you can drag and fill cells repeating formulas, making sets such as dates by just putting in the first date. And if your right click and drag there are options to include formatting or not when you drag.

I think most Excel users know about the little square on the bottom right - but thanks for the tip on the right click!

Hope things are going well for you P as in Peter!! LOL

Use f4 when you want to add or remove $ from formulas.
