The Great Twitter Project - here’s a question for you…
October9
So my Twitter posse is increasing exponentially and I’m gaining a new found love for this social media hotspot.
Here’s my current status:
So, here’s what I’m pondering - is it some type of social faux pas to be following 3x as many people as are following you? Come on - am I being a popularity hog here? Breaking some netiquiette?

You’re not being a hog, but some people may question your motives and the quality of the conversations they’ll have with you. It’s really tough to pay attention to the conversations that 800+ people are having Tiff.
Of larger concern is why you only have 89 updates! Get working on that sister!
PS: Nice to meet ya.
Well you might find yourself on one of those Twitter blacklists. Someone once wrote this, regarding your following / follower ratio:
1:5 = twittercaster, 1:2 = notable, 1:1 socially healthy, 2:1 newbie or social climber, 5:1 twitter spammer
But if your content is interesting then who cares what your twitter ratio is?
Yeah, I third the above comments. When I started out, I tried to be really careful to not follow more than 30 or 40 than were “following” me.
There are valid reasons for it of course, but many people will question your motives or the quality of your tweets (”why aren’t more of the people you are following, following you back?” for instance)
All that being said… I’ll help bring your ratios a smidgen closer and follow you (hey, the social media circle in southern ontario isn’t THAT big, we have to stick together!)
Good luck!

I say follow however many people you want to follow! I’m semi-new to the twittering world and I love the way you just plunged right in - I think I’ll follow suit.
PS - Your blog design is adorable! Did you do it?
